Sypnosis : The aims of this study are to model and establish a geologic structure, especially basement rock by using potential field analysis. Two potential field methods has been carried out which are gravity and magnetic methods. In this study, one of the coastal marginal sedimentary basins was chosen as the study site, which is the Sungai Pahang Delta in Pekan, Pahang.

The data analysis involved in this study includes data reduction, data leveling and data smoothening. Two methods of interpretation were carried out in this study, which is qualitative interpretation and quantitative interpretation. Analysis of the data was carried out manually and by using computer with sophisticated software. The qualitative interpretation is directly base on the anomaly on the contour maps, and the quantitative interpretation is base on data modeling.

An outcome from the qualitative interpretation shows a good correlation between both potential field methods by featuring the same character at the same location. From the quantitative interpretation with integrated mathematical modeling of the gravity and magnetic data shows a basement rock especially the basalt intrusion and occurrence of contact metamorphisms phenomenon. The occurrence of basalt intrusion was based from the qualitative interpretations.

Model from magnetic data shows the extension of intrusion zone. Whereas, the model from gravity data shows more on individual intrusion and the detection of metamorphism contact zone. Interpretations of the results from the study were collaborating from previous geological and geophysical record.
