2024 Medical Devices Grand Design Challenge

On December 12, 2024, the 2024 Medical Devices Grand Design Challenge was held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC), organized by Collaborative Research in Engineering, Science and Technology (CREST) in partnership with the Malaysia Aerospace Industry Association (MAIA) and the Association of Malaysian Medical Industries (AMMI).

Representing USM, 18 students from the BSc Medical Physics, School of Physics participated, divided into 5 groups under the guidance of two supervisors, Dr. Nursakinah Suardi (mentoring 2 groups) and Dr. Nik Noor Ashikin (mentoring 3 groups). All 5 groups successfully advanced to the semi-finals, showcasing their innovation and expertise accompanied by Dr Nursakinah and Dr Siti Khadijah.

One of our teams, consisting of Shaline Lavinia Justin, Safia Heidi, and Atiqah Syafiah, excelled further by reaching the finals and proudly securing the Third Prize, with the Best Presenter Award awarded to Shaline Lavinia Justin.

Congratulations to the team and their mentors for their incredible achievement and for bringing pride to USM!
