The closing ceremony of the 4th School of Physics Industry in Classroom Program marked the successful conclusion of an impactful initiative aimed at integrating industry expertise into academic learning. Held on January 7, 2025, at the School of Physics, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), the ceremony featured engaging sessions, including assessments by the ams OSRAM team, program feedback, and the awarding of certificates to participants.
Dr. David Lacey, President of the Semiconductor Fabrication Association of Malaysia and Director of R&D at ams OSRAM, delivered the opening remarks, emphasizing the significance of collaboration between academia and industry. The program, a joint effort by USM, ams OSRAM, and Silterra, equips students with advanced knowledge in semiconductor photonics, fostering interest in photonics, aligning industry technologies with the curriculum, and enhancing postgraduate employability.
The Dean of the School of Physics, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Azhar Abdul Rahman, delivered the closing remarks, commending the organizing committee for their efforts and underlining the significance of expanding the program to include more industry partners and participants. He emphasized that such initiatives not only strengthen academic-industry collaboration but also reduce barriers for postgraduates entering the workforce and enhance networking opportunities for students.
The event concluded with the awarding of certificates to participants and a reaffirmed commitment to fostering future programs that continue to bridge academia and industry.
