Geophysics Short Course at JKR CREaTE, Melaka
It was a great honour for the Geophysics Group, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), to be invited by the Jabatan Kerja Raya (JKR) to serve as speakers and facilitators for a short course on geophysical methods. The team comprised Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nordiana Mohd Muztaza, Honourable Professor Dr. Rosli Saad, and two laboratory staff members; En. Shahil Ahmad Khosaini and En. Mohd Rizal Mohammad Rodin who contributed to the hands-on practical sessions.The three-day course, held from 26 to 28 May 2025 at JKR CREaTE, Melaka, focused on the following geophysical methods; 2-D Electrical Resistivity Imaging, Seismic Refraction and Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR). The course covered core theoretical concepts, field survey design, best practices in data acquisition, and practical applications of each method.We would like to express our sincere appreciation to Mr. Ir. Som Phong for the kind invitation and excellent coordination, and to all the participants from JKR for their active engagement and cooperation throughout this interactive program.It is our hope that the objectives of the course were successfully met, and that this engagement will serve as a stepping stone for more meaningful university–industry collaborations, particularly in the fields of Geophysics, Geology, and Geotechnical Engineering.
