Outstanding Students Celebrated at Academic Excellence Awards Ceremony

On 10 December 2025, the School of Physics hosted its Semester 2 Academic Excellence Awards Ceremony for the 2024/2025 Academic Session, recognising the achievements of 238 undergraduate and postgraduate students.

This semester, the ceremony also introduced several new award categories, including Excellent Thesis Awards for both Undergraduates and Postgraduates, Best Student Awards, and the Physics Society Appreciation Awards, in addition to the longstanding Dean’s List Awards. Participants and winners of the 2025 Three Minute Thesis (3MT) Competition were also celebrated in this ceremony.

The Dean’s List Award recognises undergraduates with a semester GPA of 3.67 or higher while enrolled in at least 14 credit units. The newly introduced Excellent Thesis Awards highlight students who achieved outstanding results in their final-year projects or postgraduate theses. The Best Student Award is presented to the top students in each program and academic year, based on cumulative academic performance. Meanwhile, the Physics Society Appreciation Award honours students who have served as committee members during the 2024/2025 academic session.

“This ceremony is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our students. We hope it inspires all to continue striving for excellence,” said Assoc. Prof. Dr. Azhar Abdul Rahman, Dean of the School of Physics, who presented the awards alongside Deputy Deans Assoc. Prof. Dr. Iskandar Shahrim Mustafa and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ahmad Fairuz Omar.

The awards ceremony, held every semester, not only celebrates academic success but also encourages students to continually pursue excellence in their studies.
