Novel Research and Innovation Competition 2017 (NRIC2017)
Three physics students competed in the recent Novel Research and Innovation Competition 2017 (NRIC2017) and won Bronze medal. They were Mohd Fais Che Pa, Nor Syuhada Mohd Latiff and Fahimy Azhari. Their project entitled "Kaolin-doped Zinc Oxide Discs for UV Detection" has been the final year project for Fais and Syuhada. NRIC 2017 was attended by about 90 participants from three countries exhibiting their innovations coming from their final year projects. Fascinating and intriguing inventions were displayed during NRIC 2017 that was held at USM exam hall. The project by Fais and Syuhada was a part of Dr Shahrom's research in his Zinc Oxide Research & Innovation (ZORI) research team that included phd students, Fahimy Azhari and Siti Khadijah Mohd Bakhori, who have provided assistance in developing the UV sensory circuit prototype for the NRIC project. Our physics Dean encourages students to upgrade their final year projects into useful products that represent the "outcome" of the project.
