25-30th March 2019- A collaboration between Geophysics program at Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) and Faculty of Mathematical and Natural Sciences (MIPA) and Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Syiah Kuala (Unsyiah), Banda Acheh to conduct subsurface studies on liquefaction risks in Acheh Besar and Banda Acheh areas using geophysical techniques were focused on the use of electrical resistivity and Induce Polarization methods. The study was led by Prof. Madya Dr. Rosli Saad (geophysics lecturer, USM), Dr. Mohamad Syukri and Mr. Zulfadhli (USM Alumni & UNSYIAH Lecturers) with help by students from the Engineering faculty (UNSYIAH), MIPA (UNSYAH) and two PhD students from the School of Physics (USM), Rais Yusoh and Muhammad Nazrin. It took five days for data acquisition to identify risky areas of liquefaction phenomenon. In addition, a special lecture was given by Prof. Madya Dr. Rosli Saad entitled “Geohazard & Geophysics contribution” on the last day of the program.
