Mobile Planetarium Show at MRSM PDRM, Kulim

9 June 2024 - Unit Penyelidikan Ilmu Falak dan Sains Atmosfera (UPIFSA), School of Physics was invited to conduct a space exhibition, solar gazing session, and mobile planetarium show at MRSM PDRM in Kulim on Sunday, 9th of June 2024. The program was intended to garner interest among pupils regarding space science as part of the school initiative to focus on STEM education. As many as 300 students in form 1-3 had the opportunity to experience the mobile planetarium show. Besides this, there were several exhibitions held including 3D space posters, a Newtonian telescope, and posters on space weather. A brief solar gazing session was also conducted during the morning. This activity was led by School of Physics lecturer, Dr. Idahwati Sarudin alongside supporting staff members En. Jasnisuhardi Abdul Manab and En. Abdul Nassier Abdul Rahim. Two students from School of Physics, namely Nur Alia Natasha and Siti Syazwani Nasuha, alongside two inbound Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia students were also involved in this program. Overall, the activity was very well received, and many basic astronomical concepts such as constellation mapping and telescope handling were successfully communicated with the students.
