Astronomy Outreach Programme

Astronomy is a natural science that studies celestial objects and phenomena, basically everything that originates outside of our Earth's atmosphere. From the smallest asteroids, moons and planets within our Solar System, all the way to the largest stars and galaxies in our observational universe, astronomy sets out to answer the biggest questions that humankind has about the universe we live in. How does a telescope work? What happens when we get too near to a black hole? Do aliens exist, and where do we find them? How large is our universe, and how will it end? If you have questions like these, fear not: we are here to help you solve these mysteries!

At the School of Physics, the Astronomy and Atmospheric Science Research Unit (Unit Penyelidikan Ilmu Falak dan Sains Atmosfera, UPIFSA) is a dedicated group of lecturers, staff and students that are eager to promote astronomy education among the Malaysian public. Whether you're a student, a working adult or a retiree, as long as you're interested in astronomy, you will definitely benefit from the astronomy outreach programmes that we provide. Since the 1970s, UPIFSA has been very active in promoting astronomy education and organising astronomy events for schools, colleges and the public. Our vision is to increase the public awareness on astronomy education and research, creating a diverse community with a shared passion and appreciation for astronomy. We also aim to inspire more Malaysians to become astrophysicists in the future!

• Water rocket making and launching workshops

• Astronomy consulations ( Islamic astronomy, astronomy curriculum, news verification)
